Commitment
Accessibility
ConsultCA is committed to making civic participation accessible to all Canadians.
Our Standard
ConsultCA aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This aligns with the standard required under the Accessible Canada Act and Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat guidelines.
Features
The platform is designed to be navigable by keyboard, compatible with screen readers, and usable at high zoom levels. Colour contrast ratios meet WCAG AA requirements throughout. Forms are labelled for assistive technology compatibility.
Language
All consultation summaries are written in plain language at a Grade 8 reading level or below. French language support is in development and will be available before full public launch.
Known Limitations
Some embedded government documents linked from consultation pages may not fully meet accessibility standards, as they are produced by third parties. We flag this where known and provide alternative plain-text summaries.
Feedback
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on ConsultCA, please contact us at hello@consultca.ca with the subject line 'Accessibility'. We will respond within 5 business days and work to address the issue.
